On 9 January 2026, as part of the StreamSTEP EU Project, the DARES group at Tampere University visited Halcor’s industrial site in Greece to support the deployment of advanced process optimisation and control strategies in copper production.
The demonstration site integrates a large-scale heat pipe heat exchanger supported by a high-temperature heat pump to recover and upgrade waste heat from challenging exhaust streams. DARES group in collaboration with the Process Automation Research Group contribute by designing control solutions to efficiently reintegrate recovered heat into the process, improving thermal efficiency and system adaptability.
