Digital reading seminar brings together European early-career scholars

The EduLit research group is pleased to host a Digital Reading Seminar at May 12, 2025, bringing together doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from European reading research groups.

“This hybrid event is a space to connect the next generation of reading researchers to exchange ideas and build future collaborations. We are especially delighted that two researchers from Spain and Italy are even travelling to Tampere because of the seminar,” says Carita Kiili, leader of the EduLit research group.

In addition, the seminar offers post-doctoral scholars an opportunity to act as discussants, supporting their professional development into future academic roles.

The seminar features presentations and discussions from researchers affiliated with the University of Florence, University of Oslo, University of Bochum, University of Valencia, University of Utrecht, Univeristy of Jyväskylä and Tampere University.

The presentations are organized around three key themes:

  • Print and Digital Reading: From Habits to Skills
  • Fostering Students’ Digital Reading Skills: What Works?
  • What to Trust? Insights Into Students’ Evaluation Skills

The organizing team–Riikka Anttonen, Silvia Della Rocca, Elina Hämäläinen, and Carita Kiili–is looking forward to a vibrant day of sharing insights, engaging discussion, and building connections!
