Funky Facts Detective School was launched on January 27, 2024, at the EDUCA fair, which attracted over 15,000 visitors. The Detective School was presented on the Future Classroom stage, where Elina Hämäläinen, the Interaction Coordinator of the Critical project, interviewed Carita Kiili, the developer of the Funky Facts Detective School. On the stage, the atmosphere was enhanced by the detectives 3T (Iina Hautala) and Completely Zero (Aleksi Kauppinen). Visitors could also explore the Funky Facts Detective School at the joint exhibition booth of Critical and Faktabaari.

The Funky Facts Detective School is designed to teach 5th and 6th graders online credibility evaluation. Learning materials include videos, a workbook, a detective passport, and badges. In the videos, detectives teach credibility evaluation strategies, which students practice with learning tasks. Students reflect on their learning in the detective passport. Teacher materials outline the contents of the videos and the pedagogical principles of the Detective School. The teacher’s guide describes the flow of the lessons. The Funky Facts Detective School was developed in Carita Kiili’s  academy research fellow project funded by the Research Council of Finland.

The materials (in Finnish) can be found in the Library of Open Educational Resources https://aoe.fi/#/kokoelma/320.
