Our WorkAI project funded by the Finnish Work Environment Fund is nearing completion. Our final report presents the key findings of the project and offers new insights into how artificial intelligence is reshaping work in Finland.

The study is the first national longitudinal study of the AI transformation among Finnish employees. We followed 2,109 workers across three survey waves, complemented by 54 qualitative interviews conducted in six organizations. Together, these data provide a unique view of how employees experience the rapid integration of AI into working life.

AI adoption in Finland has been relatively slow. Despite its potential, the use of AI at work remains concentrated mainly among highly educated employees, placing Finland roughly around the European average.

The transformation creates both opportunities and stress. Many employees perceive AI as a potential threat to their professional identity, and learning new tools alongside existing work tasks can be demanding.

Support from organizations and colleagues is essential. Workplace support plays a key role in helping employees adapt to rapid technological change, especially in increasingly remote and hybrid work environments.
