Recent work from the Emerging Technologies Lab includes two book chapters published in the Encyclopedia of Artificial Intelligence in Marketing (Springer, 2026) and an empirical research article published in the Leonardo Journal (MIT Press, 2025).
1) How AI Is Transforming Institutions in the Cultural Sector (Cvetkovic, Savolainen & Oksanen) examines the adoption of AI in cultural institutions such as museums, galleries, and heritage organizations, focusing on institutional change, governance, and ethical challenges.
2) How AI Transforms the World of the Fine Arts (Oksanen, Cvetkovic & Savolainen), focuses on artistic production and creativity, analyzing how AI reshapes authorship, aesthetic value, and power relations in the fine arts.
3) AI-Generated Art Perception: A Population Study (Oksanen & Lahtinen, 2025) combines experimental and longitudinal population data from Finland to examine how people perceive AI-generated art over time. The study shows mixed public responses, with stronger support for human–AI collaboration than for fully autonomous AI creativity, and highlights the importance of framing and human-centered approaches in AI-supported art.
