We have recently demonstrated that the fundamental self-imaging effect, which is also called Talbot effect, can also be observed for light on a cylinder surface, i.e. light travelling in a ring-core fiber. Moreover, using the right length of such fibers it is possible to use this effect to have a higher-order beam splitter that even works in the quantum domain.
