In case you are interested to know how this can be achieved, you should look into our latest publication in Nanophotonics. Together with the research group of Boyd and Giese, we have demonstrated that an epsilon-near zero material (in our case ITO) can be used to realize an holographic modulation, where the spatial structure of an input light field is modulated by another light field….and it works even on the picosecond time scale.
