Seminar 'Challenges in Higher Education Under Siege' with Dr Nazmi Al-Masri

On Friday 25 November 2022 at 13:00-17:00 Higher Education in Transition (HET) research group is organizing a seminar themed "Challenges in Higher Education Under Siege" focusing on Palestinian higher education. The seminar welcomes doctoral researchers, early-career researchers and other interested participants.

Keynotes of the seminar will be given by:

Associate professor Nazmi Al-Masri (The Islamic University of Gaza, Palestine) “Higher education in context of crises: challenges and achievements” (45 minutes) and postdoc researcher Tahani Al Dahdouh (TAU) “Development of online teaching expertise: A comparative study of Palestine and Finland (Preliminary results from Palestine case)” (45 minutes).

Commentary by associate professor Vesa Korhonen (TAU) and general discussion on methodological challenges on higher education research in challenging contexts. After seminar presentations and commentaries: discussion possibility with associate professor Nazmi Al-Masri on possible problem-solving activities in relation to future project planning in higher education under siege.

The seminar will be organized in a hybrid format: EDU’s café (3rd floor, Virta building, Tampere University) and online in Zoom. Please register for the seminar by Thursday 24 November through this link.

Biography: Dr Nazmi Al-Masri is Associate Professor of education at the Islamic University of Gaza, Palestine. His primary academic and research interests developed over 30 years of local and international experiences to include inclusive education, refugee education, education in context of crises, foreign language education, multilingualism and intercultural communication, technology and education, employability and development.
