Group picture from the Photoactive Organic Materials, Aalto University - before transfer to TAU

We just moved to TAU! Supramolecular chemistry at the biomaterials interface... with a lot of color!

We are interested on the synthesis of optically active molecules and subsequent (bio)conjugation. We are looking towards applications ranging from solar energy conversion, illumination technologies and light-induced therapies. The research team have a strong organic synthetic background that, with a multidisciplinary approach, place us at the interface between chemistry, physics and biology.

Research topics

  1. Organic synthesis of aggregation induced emitters (AIEs) and their supramolecular materials
  2. Mechanochemistry of dyes
  3. Development of protein-based materials for light-induced therapies and light management
  4. Synthesis of cellulose-based, self-sterilizing materials
