It was so nice to host Leandro.. already time to go back to (warm) Brazil!

Hello! I am Leandro, master’s student at chemistry (University of São Paulo, Brazil), currently doing a short time research internship at Tampere University in the Photonic Glasses group. Under Dr. Laeticia Petit guidance, we are performing controlled crystallization studies onto niobium fluorophosphate glass matrices, studying how different compositions can induce changes on the crystalline phase obtained after heat treatment and how these crystalline phases induce changes on the upconversion intensity of luminescence, using ytterbium and thulium as codopants. My time in Finland has been magical, with beautiful landscapes, lakes visiting and (deeply!) surprising cold, being my first time seeing snow in life. I am thankful for Dr. Petit and every member of the group for being so welcoming to me and giving me the opportunity to learn a lot during my time here and developing an exciting research project.
