Changes to the process of the Academy of Finland's data management plan

The Academy of Finland changed its funding conditions for the AoF September 2020 call. The changes in the terms and conditions concern in particular the practices of the data management plan (DMP) and the acceptance of funding. The terms and conditions especially emphasise the responsibility of the site of research and good data management practices.

In the application phase, the data management practices to be followed in the project are described in a concise manner in the research plan. After a positive funding decision, the actual data management plan must be submitted within eight weeks of the funding decision. The data management plan will be conditional on the payment of funding.

In September, Tampere University approved the process of processing the Academy of Finland’s data management plan within the organisation and the responsible parties involved. Library’s data support within the Data Service will contact all project PIs who have received funding in order to consult, help and offer data management training, and review the final DMP. PIs are encouraged to actively contact data support. Once the DMP has been approved, the data support will give a statement to the dean who will confirm the acceptance of funding with the PI.

In connection with the new practices, support and training in the preparation of the data management plan, directed especially at the PIs and deans, will be widely available.
