RS HUB will organize an online event (in Zoom) 'Relational Theory and Methodology' on Tuesday 18 May at 14:00-16:00 (Finnish time). The programme consists of a guest lecture by Professor Peeter Selg, preceded by an introduction to the theme by Associate Professor Olli Pyyhtinen. Selg is Professor of Political Theory at Tallinn University, Estonia. His main research interests include theories of power, social science methodology, and relational social sciences. His work has appeared in journals such as Sociological Theory, PS: Political Science and Politics, and Journal of Political Power. His new book (with Andreas Ventsel) Introducing Relational Political Analysis: Political Semiotics as a Theory and Method (Palgrave Macmillan) was published in 2020. Selg is also a co-editor (with Nick Crossley) of the book series 'Palgrave Studies in Relational Sociology'.

The title of professor Selg’s talk is ‘What is relational political analysis? A response through political semiotics.’

The event will also be the official kick-off of the Relational Studies Hub. The event will be followed by a sequel next Autumn (date TBA) with a focus on conducting relational empirical research.

Please contact Olli Pyyhtinen (olli.pyyhtinen[at]tuni.fi) for the link to the event.
