Kim Kuntze from SPM in collaboration with other researchers from Tampere University, University of Helsinki, (USA), and Uppsala University (Sweden) wrote the review article about indirect photoisomerisation strategies from theoretical and practical points of view, giving insight into their fundamental mechanisms and demonstrating how they have been exploited to enable photoswitching with low-energy light. In the paper, the authors considered the often-overlooked thermal isomerisation routes and proposed how they can be either suppressed or exploited.
