SoC Hub
System-on-Chip design research centre
SoC Hub research centre
SoC Hub research centre combines digital design, multiprocessor system design, embedded software, microelectronics, electronics and process management for wireless communications, signal processing and security applications. It connects all related research groups and researchers at Tampere University.
System-on-Chip design is multidisciplinary and labor-intensive activity that must be carried out by a large team. The main objective of the research centre is to join forces and together reach a level that could not be reached alone. The research centre activities are based on the SoC Hub project that was started in 2020 in which a consortium consisting of several professors, researchers and companies co-develop industry-level System-on-Chips. The main principle of the project is to keep the pace of designing and taping out one chip yearly.
SoC Hub is tightly connected to the EU’s Chips Act goals and strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty. The aim of SoC Hub is to expand from regional to national ecosystem and become recognized as EU level competence cluster. This is supported by Tampere chip programme led by Business Tampere which SoC Hub is in tight cooperation with.
