Sakari Lahti Defends His Doctoral Dissertation on May 9, 2025

Sakari Lahti

In high-level synthesis, digital circuits are designed using general-purpose programming languages. In his doctoral research, MSc (Tech) Sakari Lahti investigated the productivity and quality of high-level synthesis compared to traditional design methods. The results indicate that the method can accelerate design projects, but the quality of the outcomes may suffer without a high level of expertise.

The doctoral dissertation of MSc (Tech) Sakari Lahti in the field of information technology, titled Evaluation of the State of High-level Synthesis: A Hardware Engineer’s Perspective, will be publicly examined at the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences at Tampere University on Friday, May 9, 2025, starting at 12 noon. The defence will take place at the Hervanta Campus, in the Tietotalo building, lecture hall TB109 (Korkeakoulunkatu 1, Tampere).

The opponent will be Associate Professor Jani Boutellier from the University of Vaasa, and the custos will be Professor Timo Hämäläinen from the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences at Tampere University.
