The FEMCORUS project, led by TaRC's Saara Ratilainen, has started the new year with plenty of activity.

Last December, Dr Ratilainen organized the kick-off meeting for her Academy of Finland-funded research project Mediated Feminism(s) in Contemporary Russia (FEMCORUS, 2021–25).

The project is concerned with how media and feminism should be studied in the 21st century, in the context of Russian contemporary culture and society. Following the fruitful kick-off meeting, the project has got to full swing early in the new year.

As one of her first tasks in 2022, Dr Ratilainen has written an article that illustrates the project and its aims in more detail.

The Finnish-language article has now been published on the website Politiikasta that focuses on popularizing social and in particular political sciences to the general public. You can read Dr Ratilainen’s article here.

Moreover, the project now has its own website, which you can access here to keep up with its latest developments. Also make sure to check the #FEMCORUS hashtag on Twitter for updates and discussion on the topic!

We will also follow the project on our homepage and let you know of publications, public events, and the like. TaRC wishes Saara and the entire research team the best of luck with this timely project!
