If your PhD or Master’s thesis has to do with Asia in one way or another and you feel you need assistance, then pay attention to this message!
For many years, NIAS (the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies at the University of Copenhagen) has supported Nordic PhD and Master Students in their thesis work through the NIAS SUPRA Nordic Scholarship.
Due to the pandemic, the folks at NIAS have moved the scholarship online. They are now completing their first semester of virtual SUPRAs. The autumn semester will be their second round and we are helping them spread the word about the new Virtual SUPRA Programme.
With the Virtual SUPRA Programme, they have doubled the period of “stay” and improved the content that they offer recipients. It now includes:
- Four-week programme of virtual sessions
- Individual academic mentoring
- Presentation of thesis work with feedback
- Thorough introduction to the AsiaPortal resources
- Sessions on publishing in academia
- Sessions on career development and how to create an academic presence online
- Opportunity to create an academic podcast

Application deadline is 15 June 2021.
