TaRC teams up with the Russian Media Network Lab at the Aleksanteri Institute (University of Helsinki) for a series of online talks on Russian media.

Interested in Russian media? We have good news for you!

TaRC and the Russian Media Network Lab at the Aleksanteri Institute at the University of Helsinki have entered a collaboration which gives you an opportunity to follow high-quality online talks on Russian media throughout this academic year.

The collaboration Online Talks on Russian Media brings together a wide range of researchers to discuss current and emerging problems of the ever-changing field of media technologies, practices, and rules in Russia and its close neighbors. Understanding media broadly, the talks and discussion address various topics from fake news to internet regulation, from digital cultures to artificial intelligence in media, and from journalistic freedom to propaganda.

The talks take place on the second Tuesday of each month. They feature a speaker who presents her/his research or work in progress, and all talks are followed by discussion. The events are open to advanced and early-career researchers and students. We strive to maintain an informal atmosphere to support lively discussion and to give an opportunity for networking among participants.

Online talks are coordinated by Olga Dovbysh (postdoctoral researcher, University of Helsinki), Katja Lehtisaari (senior lecturer, Tampere University) and Sanna Turoma (professor, Tampere University). Online talks will be organized in Zoom from 12:00 to 13:30 (Finnish time). The working language of the talks is English.
