Finnish Urban Studies Conference: Extra program in English on 8 May 2026

During the Finnish-language part of the Urban Studies Conference on Friday, 8 May, we will offer free English-language extra program open to anyone interested in urban issues. Please, remember to register by 29 April. You are warmly welcome to join us!

Star in a Minute

  • Time: Friday, 8 May, at 9:15 – 9:50
  • Place: Toivo Café & Aula (2nd floor), TAU City Centre Main Building
  • Description: Are you a new researcher, a seasoned academic, master’s thesis student, or a rock-solid professional in urban issues? Do you really know your research or work? The answer might be yes. The answer might be no. Let’s find out. No slides. No long talks. Just you, your research, work, and positive vibes. Or you can just come and chill over a cup of coffee.

The City We Know

  • Time: Friday, 8 May, at 12:30 – 13:30 (please arrive to the separately agreed meeting point at 12:15 for instructions)
  • Place: Outdoor program. Dress according to the climate. You will be walking to different places in the city in the proximity of the university.
  • Description: As you walk through Tampere’s urban landscape, what do you notice—and what do you feel? The old and familiar, the new and emerging—or perhaps something that’s no longer there? Let’s explore the city together in a new way!
