TURNS Funding Call 2026

TURNS reached its new record in this seed and mobility funding call round, with a total of 51 applications received by the deadline 20 January 2026. The number includes 23 seed funding applications and 28 mobility funding applications. You can read more about the TURNS Funding Call here: TURNS Funding Call 2026 (seed and mobility funding).

We are particularly delighted with the diversity of the applications. There were many new applicants from different fields, so it is great to see that urban research is conducted in various units and research groups across Tampere University. The extensive collaboration networks also stood out.

Considering that this was an internal call within Tampere University, the large number of applications demonstrates both the strong enthusiasm for sustainable urban research and the need for support within the university community. Unfortunately, we can only fund part of the applications: the total budget available for TURNS seed and mobility initiatives in 2026 is approximately 100 000 euros, while the total amount of requested funding was 425 000 euros.

The evaluation process for the applications has now begun, and the TURNS Management Group will make the decisions in its meeting on 3 March. Applicants will be informed of the results on 6 March 2026.

Thank you to all the applicants!
