TURNS Writing Camp offers an opportunity for uninterrupted and focused writing in a socially supportive and calm environment with peers and colleagues. Delicious meals are included in the camp (breakfast, lunch, and afternoon coffee).
The focus of the camp is on writing, so we invite participants to work on their own texts – whether a PhD thesis, article, or some other academic or popular text related to urban research during the camp.
Applying for the camp
The writing camp is meant for the PhD students at Tampere University whose work is related to urban studies. If there are more than 14 applicants, the places will be drawn. In addition, there are 6 places for invited researchers who are working on TURNS affiliated texts (e.g. DATUTOP, Urban Prosumers, and Tampere Urban Perspectives blog) + EXTRA PLACES for all Tampere University urban researchers at any career stage.
Apply by 2 December 2025 evening by filling in this form: Application: TURNS Winter Writing Camp 2025
The applicants are informed by 4 December whether they are accepted to the camp. Note that participation is binding, so if you need to cancel your participation, you should contact the organizers (riina.lundman@tuni.fi) as soon as possible. In case of cancellation, we kindly ask you to find someone to replace you.
The event will be organized as a day camp. We hope that the participants could join the whole camp (2 days). If this is not possible, one can also apply for 1 day.
