Do you ever wonder how media messages and platforms shape the way we see the world? Are you fed up with the decline of critical thinking and fact-based decision-making? You are not alone. We are on these issues.

Taru – Tampere University Research Centre for Communication Sciences examines society and culture through communication, media, and art. Our researchers analyse how communication, cultural practices, technologies, and forms of expression shape contemporary life. We investigate emerging forms of communication, media, and cultural production, developing new methods and perspectives for understanding how they may shape society in the future.

Our presentation video is now available on Tampere University’s YouTube channel. It is part of a video series introducing our university’s research centres and their activities across different faculties. Taru is one of the twelve research centres within the Faculty of information technology and communication sciences.
