Measuring News Diversity – Lessons learned: Webinar on 19 November

Picture shows two people discussing. Empty speech bubbles coming from their mouths are placed on the opposite ends of a scale that is slightly tipped to the left side. Below the picture are three logos: The Canadian Press, Gender Gap Tracker, and Moniäänisyysmittari.

AI has flooded us with new tools, but what is actually new for analyzing news content? For instance, what do we know about measuring news diversity and the tools available? Why and how to measure news diversity? And, even more importantly: how to apply the tool into the everyday workflow of a newsroom?

Join our webinar on 19 November at 15:30 EET to hear what research- and practice-based evidence is already available. We bring together insights from projects in Finland and Canada, creating a meeting ground for researchers, developers, and media professionals.

  • Keynote from business editor Kate Hopwood, The Canadian Press: Experiences on different tools, including the Gender Gap Tracker, from Canada’s oldest and largest news agency

  • Open discussion on methods, validation, limits, and future directions for advancing diversity in journalism
