Tampere University Gamification Group and DigiSus research platform are teaming up to organize a workshop session focusing on sustainability, play and experiments in living. Join the workshop to find joyful ways to make everyday life more sustainable for yourself and others as well!

Date and time: Monday 7th April 2025 at 12-14
Location: Centre campus, Lyhty building (Päätalo F001)
Registration: https://forms.office.com/e/NAgzcCwztB

In this workshop, we will combine the concepts of sustainabilityplay, and experiments in living to design unique interaction experiences with digital media and technologies. By utilizing playful design principles, we will together create unique challenges for each other. We will learn how to design challenges that are feasible, insightful, and joyful.

The focus of the challenges is to identify an unsustainable practice or pattern in one’s everyday life and to design strategies to help steer behaviour towards a more sustainable direction. About a week after the workshop, we’ll have a voluntary follow-up online meeting to reflect on what impact the challenges had on our lives.

The schedule of the workshop:

  • 12:15 Introduction
  • 12:40 How to design a playful experience
  • 12:50 Coffee break
  • 13:00 Designing a playful experiment in sustainable living: Hands-on work in pairs or small groups to create playful challenges for each other
  • 13:45 Sharing the created challenges
  • 13:55 Next steps

Please sign up via the link by 31st March: https://forms.office.com/e/NAgzcCwztB

The session is aimed at Tampere University and TAMK community and it is suitable for anyone regardless of previous design experience. The maximum number of participants is 40.
