Assoc. Professor Jaakko Kauko will be chairing a session in “Privatisation in education across Europe” at the end of January 2018. The event is a symposium which will map the changing relationship across Europe between privatisation and public education.
The symposium website describes the context for the topic as follows: “The provision of public education) has experienced multiple and significant interventions by nation states as part of a global reform agenda privileging markets, competition and corporate actors. These reforms now face a new context: a global paradigm shift where Europe is starting to confront the failure of these approaches, evident in, inter alia, the rise of anti-establishment politics.”
The symposium is convened by Dr Steven J Courtney, lecturer in the Manchester Institute of Education, University of Manchester.
