The ERC (European Research Council) awarded 397 young researchers coming from all research fields in Europe with the prestigious ERC Starting Grant (see list and more information here). In the field of Physical Sciences and Engineering, Robert was one of the awardees in the last call 2021. The funding will allow the group to expand its research efforts on structuring coherent quantum waves to atom physics. In the project, coherent ion beams with a twisted phase front and their peculiar features will be studied, hence the project’s name “Twisted Ions (TWISTION)”.
