Twisted NOON states for angular superresolution!

In case you are interested how to generate NOON-states of OAM modes, i.e. twisted NOON-states, and what are they good for, check out our latest publication in Physical Review Letters here. We were able to show that the quantum feature of phase-supersensitivity of NOON-states leads to an angular super-resolution and improvement in the sensitivity of angle measurements. In other words, quantum entangled photon-pairs (in twisted NOON-states) seem to rotate twice as fast as two individual photons 🙂

You can also find more information about it in our latest press-release here.

Congrats to our colleague Fred in Canada and, especially, to Markus for this nice piece of work! …second PRL in 2021, well done!!!
