(in Finnish: Näyttöön perustuva neurokirurgia)
Neurosurgery uses a lot of resources (ICU days, OR time, ward days) and requires a lot of expensive investments. But at the same time neurosurgery can cure debilitating neurological illnesses and retain or restore the independent life or ability to work, challenged by neurological illnesses. Our aim is to quantitate from objective sources the health benefits obtained with specific neurosurgical procedures, and to compare that benefit with the cost of treatment. The eventual goal is to optimize the use of the limited healthcare resources available, in order to use them effectively to improve the health of as many as possible, as much as possible.
Primary focus: Quality of life, Patient reported outcome, and Cost of neurosurgical procedures
