Riku Jäntti is the CoE Director and Full Professor of Communications Engineering at Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering, Finland. He received his M.Sc (with distinction) in Electrical Engineering in 1997 and D.Sc (with distinction) in Automation and Systems Technology in 2001, both from Helsinki University of Technology (TKK). Prior to joining Aalto in August 2006, he was professor pro tem at the Department of Computer Science, University of Vaasa. The research interests of Prof. Jäntti include machine type communications, disaggregated radio access networks, backscatter communications, quantum communications, and radio frequency inference.

Mikko Valkama is the CoE Vice-Director and Full Professor of Radio Systems and Signal Processing at Tampere University (TAU), Finland, with specific research expertise in radio systems, signal processing, hardware-constrained communications and sensing systems, as well as RF convergence. He is also the Head of Electrical Engineering Unit at Tampere University, Finland, and a member of TAU Academic Board. He has supervised 29 doctoral degree and coauthored 650+ referee publications. He has done pioneering research in full-duplex radio systems, HW-constrained radio systems and 5G/6G positioning fields, and has received 8 IEEE best paper awards. His general research interests include radio communications, radio positioning and radio-based sensing. He is a Fellow of IEEE.

Dr. Mehdi Bennis is a full Professor at the Centre for Wireless Communications, University of Oulu, Finland and head of the intelligent connectivity and networks/systems group (ICON). His main research interests are at the intersection of communication and ML in 5G/6G networks. He has published 300+ research papers in international conferences, journals and book chapters. He has been the recipient of several prestigious awards including the 2015 Fred W. Ellersick Prize from the IEEE Communications Society, the 2016 Best Tutorial Prize from the IEEE Communications Society, the 2017 EURASIP Best paper Award for the Journal of Wireless Communications and Networks, the all-University of Oulu award for research, the 2019 IEEE ComSoc Radio Communications Committee Early Achievement Award and the 2020-2023 Clarviate Highly Cited Researcher by the Web of Science. Dr Bennis is a Specialty Chief Editor for Data Science for Communications in the Frontiers in Communications and Networks journal and an IEEE Fellow.

Ping Jack Soh

Ping Jack Soh is an Associate Professor at the University of Oulu, Finland and an Academy Research Fellow with the Research Council of Finland. He obtained a master’s degree from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the PhD degree from KU Leuven, Belgium, both in electrical engineering. His research interests include antenna design and their applications in wearables / wireless body area communication; metasurfaces and reflectors for next-generation wireless systems; compact satellites; EM safety and absorption; and wireless techniques for healthcare. He was the recipient of the URSI Young Scientist Award in 2015, the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) Graduate Fellowship for Medical Applications in 2013 and the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) Doctoral Research Award in 2012. He serves an Associate Editor of the IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters and the International Journal of Numerical Modelling (Wiley). He also served as the TPC Co-Chair of the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Biomedical Conference (IMBioC) 2023, and volunteers in the IEEE MTT-S Education Committee.

Dr. Markku Juntti received his his Dr.Sc. (EE) degree from University of Oulu, Oulu, Finland in 1997. Dr. Juntti was with University of Oulu in 1992–98. In academic year 1994–95, he was a Visiting Scholar at Rice University, Houston, Texas. In 1999–2000, he was a Senior Specialist with Nokia Networks. Dr. Juntti has been a professor of communications engineering since 2000 at the University of Oulu, Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC). He serves as the Leader of CWC – Radio Technologies (RT) Research Unit. His research interests include signal processing for wireless networks as well as communication and information theory. His research interests include signal processing for wireless networks as well as communication and information theory. Dr. Juntti is also an Adjunct Professor at Rice University, Houston, Texas. He is a Fellow of IEEE.

Prof. Heidi Kuusniemi is a professor in computer science and director of the Digital Economy research platform and the Kvarken Space Center at the University of Vaasa in Finland. She is also a part-time research professor in satellite navigation at the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute of the National Land Survey. She has a M.Sc. (Tech.) degree (with distinction) from 2002 and a D.Sc. (Tech.) degree from 2005 in information technology, respectively, from Tampere University of Technology, Finland. Part of her doctoral research in 2003-2004 on satellite navigation reliability was conducted at the University of Calgary, Department of Geomatics Engineering, Canada. In 2017, she was a visiting scholar at Stanford University’s GPS Laboratory. She served as a member of the council for natural sciences and engineering at the Academy of Finland in 2019-2021 and is a member of the Finnish Academy of Technical Sciences since 2023. She was a member of the scientific advisory committee for GNSS (GSAC) at the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2013-2020. She is the President of the Nordic Institute of Navigation. She co-leads the European Space Agency’s Business Incubation Center Finland site at the University of Vaasa. Her technical expertise and interests include satellite navigation, satellite data reliability and resilience, estimation and data fusion, mobile positioning, indoor localization and the new space economy.

Visa Koivunen (IEEE Fellow, EURASIP Fellow) is currently Aalto Distinguished professor of Electrical Engineering, Department of Information and Communications Engineering, Aalto university, Finland. From 1992 to 1995 he was a visiting researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA, and year 2007 and 2013-2014 he was visiting faculty at Princeton University. He held visiting fellow appointments at Nokia research center (2006-2012) and Princeton University since 2010. He was visiting professor at EPFL. Lausanne, Switzerland in 2022-2023. He held the Academy professor position in 2010-2014. His research interests include statistical, wireless communications, radar, multisensor signal processing, machine learning, cyber-physical systems and data science. He has published more than 480 papers in international scientific conferences and journals and holds 5 patents. He has co-authored 6 papers receiving best conference paper award and the two of his journal papers have been awarded the IEEE Signal Processing Society best paper award, year 2007 (with J. Eriksson) and for the second time in 2017 (with Zoubir et al). He was awarded the 2015 EURASIP Technical Achievement Award for fundamental contributions to statistical signal processing and its applications in wireless communications, radar and related fields. He has an extensive service record within the IEEE. He has served as a chair of NATO radar panels. In 2015-2016 he was the IEEE Distinguished Lecturer in signal processing. He is a member of the Academia Europaea.

Petri Mähönen is currently Full Professor of Networked Systems at Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering, Finland. He is also serving as vice-dean of the School of Electrical Engineering. Before joining Aalto in 2022, he was a chair and director of Institute for Networked Systems at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. His research interests span widely over networked systems, including spectrum science, network protocols and performance analysis, cognitive networking, spatial statistics, and network science in general.
