Aino Marsio-Aalto: Ecology in Modern Times

The round table 'Aino Marsio-Aalto: Ecology in Modern Times' is part of the project Avant-Garde Muses, which places value in the creative work of modern and contemporary women who have been role models for several generations

The project Musas de Vanguardia (Avant-Garde Muses), devised by Mara Sánchez Llorens (Madrid) and Luciana Levinton (Buenos Aires) in collaboration with the Cultural Centre of Spain in Buenos Aires (CCEBA), presents six meetings in 2022 on avant-garde socially committed women who have inspired creators all over the world with their work related to art and architecture. They dealt with topics such as ecology, sustainability and the living environment, which, although not explicitly stated by them, can be used nowadays to analyse their legacy from a contemporary perspective.

The dialogue ‘Aino Marsio-Aalto. Ecología en Tiempos Modernos’ (Aino Marsio-Aalto: Ecology in Modern Times) will revolve around the work and figure of Alvar Aalto’s first spouse, who worked in her own projects and along with the Finnish master from the 1920s until her passing in 1949.

SPREAD’s members Rosana Rubio and Fernando Nieto will take part as invited speakers in the event, which will take place as an online seminar and can be followed live on May 19th at 14.00 Buenos Aires time [20.00 Helsinki time] at the CCEBA’s YouTube channel.
