Arquitectura de la soledad is the expanded Spanish version of the book Loneliness and the Built Environment, published as DATUTOP Occasional Papers 40 at the Tampere School of Architecture, which resulted from the seminar titled ‘Loneliness and the Built Environment: Philosophical, Societal and Technological Perspectives (LOBE seminar)’, celebrated at the Tampere University’s Faculty of Built Environment, School of Architecture, on December 16th, 2019.
Arquitectura de la soledad, published by Ediciones Asimétricas, has been edited by Rosana Rubio and Fernando Nieto and includes contributions from the authors Ben L. Mijuskovic, Christina R. Victor, Juhani Pallasmaa, Rosana Rubio, Fernando Nieto, Javier Echeverría, Atxu Amann, Flavio Martella, Lola S. Almendros, Lars Svendsen, Christopher R. Long, James R. Averill, Eric Klinenberg and Juan Navarro Baldeweg.
The book covers the phenomena of loneliness and social isolation in relation to concepts such as place, mediation, digital environment, individualism, social health, daily life and creativity. The objective is to address the topics from a interdisciplinary approach, relating the fields of architecture and the built environment with other disciplines like philosophy, psychology, sociology, gerontology and public health.
The editors took part in a book presentation at the Club de Lectura Asimétrico by Ediciones Asimétricas (in Spanish).
