Postdoc Position

SPREAD is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Architectural Design to join the team

The position has a special focus on Public Building Design, to support and strengthen research at the Unit of Architecture.

The selected candidate will be part of an emergent research group called SPREAD, which is part of the new Architectural Design and Sustainable Housing research cluster.

The Architectural Design and Sustainable Housing research cluster merges practice-based and research-based national and international knowledge and expertise of several different research fields, SPREAD (Spatial & Speculative Research in Architectural Design) and ASUTUT (Sustainable Housing Design). The research cluster investigates architectural knowledge, design processes, public building design and sustainable housing design through theoretical, historical, practice-based, social and scientific methods to make meaningful societal change. This includes new thinking about sustainable housing design and public building design, innovative solutions to societal challenges and contributions to architectural theories, methods and design processes.

The Architectural Design and Sustainable Housing research cluster aims to make societal and architectural contributions by combining practice-based, theoretical, artistic and scientific research to investigate design thinking and propose new approaches and solutions to societal challenges. The research cluster uses and develops design theories and methods to support architectural and spatial innovations and societally relevant changes. The research cluster focuses on architectural design including public building design, architectural practice, architectural theory, adaptable, flexible, collaborative and integrated housing design, building performance and energy efficiency, health and well-being and sustainable architecture.

SPREAD is an emergent research group that combines the knowledge and expertise of practice and research in architectural design by merging the professorships of Basics and Theory of Architecture together with Public Building Design. The research group explores new ways of relating theory and practice of architecture, and the conceptual and theoretical reflection of the discipline through the architectural project. SPREAD focuses on interpreting space as the core of architects and architectural practice. The SPREAD team speculates and reflects on spatial qualities in architecture by exploring theory and investigating architectural criticism and design thinking.
