The project, titled ‘Loneliness and the Built Environment: Philosophical, Societal and Technological Perspectives’, aims to explore the consequences of the idea of loneliness in the built environment from an interdisciplinary approach. The project is to be developed together with national and international partners in social sciences, humanities and technological disciplines, acting researchers at SPREAD Associate Professor Fernando Nieto and Postdoctoral Research Fellow Rosana Rubio-Hernández as project coordinators.
Tampere University aims at being an international forerunner in research on future welfare systems. To achieve this, a transdisciplinary phenomenon oriented research initiative will be launched. The researchers at various career levels will conduct highly ranked scientific research with substantial policy relevance. The innovative capacity of the research community will be channeled through the initiative that is widely networked with top level research institutions in Europe and beyond. High quality research training is provided to bring up a new generation of researchers. The initiative also collaborates closely with policymakers, civil society, and private enterprises.
