The seminar will include the book launch of the new Datutop publication “Understanding and Designing Place – Considerations on Architecture and Philosophy”. This publication was preceded by an international seminar held in Tampere (Finland) in 2017. The aim is to bring the idea of ‘place’ back to the centre stage, and to reflect on the experience of place and the complexities of situation from both a philosophical and practical perspective. The book contains essays by Jeff Malpas, Alberto Pérez-Gómez, Juhani Pallasmaa, Pekka Passinmäki and Klaske Havik, as well as an edited transcription of the discussion among the above authors held in Tampere.
