Urban Encounters

Lahdelma & Mahlamäki architects have just completed the Urban Environment House in East Helsinki

The new building brings together all the City of Helsinki’s departments of the built environment in one only building located in the Verkkosaari district, next to the Kalasatama area in Helsinki.

The built work has been published in the last 2020 issue of Arkkitehti, the Finnish Architectural Review magazine. The article may be consulted online in this link.

SPREAD’s Professor Ilmari Lahdelma has been the project’s principal designer together with Teemu Seppälä and Minja Hildén. An interview to the main architects titled ‘A New Base for Urbanism’ is published in the same issue and online here.

More information about the project can be consulted at Lahdelma & Mahlamäki architects’ website.
