Dr Olga Andreevskikh is familiar to TaRC members for a longer time. She was one of the distinguished teachers on our Master Class course in 2019, and since then, she has moved to Finland. Currently, she works as a University Lecturer in Russian Language at Tampere University.
Alongside teaching, Olga has done research on media, gender, and sexuality in Russia. Now, her monograph dealing with these topics, Media and Masculinities in Contemporary Russia: Constructing Non-heteronormativity, has just been published by Routledge.
The book is an extensive study on the role of media in Russia in resisting the government’s stance on upholding “traditional sexuality” and on the subversive media practices in authoritarian regimes.
To celebrate the publication, Olga will give a book launch talk in lecture hall Pinni B4075, Tampere University (address: Kanslerinrinne 1, Tampere) on Wednesday 24 January from noon to 2pm (Helsinki time, GMT+2). The talk is organized as a hybrid event and it is also accessible via Zoom through this link.
Congratulations to Olga on the new publication and welcome all to the event!
