During last spring we gathered with a nice interdisciplinary small group for on campus writing retreats once a month. TRANSIT Writing Retreats support writing as a collaborative activity, methodological reflection, slow science as well as building a researcher community beyond one’s own faculty or discipline.
The retreat days followed a schedule where concentrated writing and more free conversations had their own slots between 9 am and 4 pm. These days enabled peer support – we are all writers no matter which stage of academic ladder we are on! – and offered a space to think and work together, even when the topics varied widely.
TRANSIT Writing Retreat regular, doctoral researcher Valeriia Smirnova, has enjoyed the atmosphere of the retreats:

This “writing in the same room” has been a joyful and refreshing way to work, and for that reason the retreats will continue this autumn.
We invite researchers from the Tampere University faculties of Education and Culture, Social Sciences and Management and Business to join our on-site Writing Retreats.
