Doctoral student (MSocSc) Janika Kosonen has started as a researcher in the TreAdd research group in June 2023. She works on the Usability of substance abuse client segmentation in service planning and its effects on client well-being and substance abuse (SEGMENT) project. Kosonen continues her work as a researcher in the TreAdd research group on the At the Intersection of Substance Abuse and Child Protection Services (NUPPU) project from January 2024.
Kosonen moves to the position of a researcher from a position of a senior lecturer at a university of applied sciences. Additionally, she has gained experience in disability work, adult social work, homelessness work, child welfare and the third sector.
In her PHD project, Kosonen examines the challenge of intervening problematic youth substance use in child protection residential care in Finland. She is especially interested in youth substance abuse treatment, non-medical interventions for addictions and desistance theories in the context of problematic substance use.
