TURNS Writing Camp 2024
TURNS organizes a writing camp in Päivölä Folk School on 5-8 August. There are 10 free places for Tampere University’s PhD students whose work is related to urban sustainability issues.
- Time: 5 August 11 AM – 8 August 1 PM

During the writing camp, the participants have a chance to focus on writing their PhD dissertation and get feedback and support from their peers. The program will include e.g. Shut Up & Write sessions and a small seminar where the PhD students can briefly present their work. In the evenings, there is free-time and a chance to network with other participants. There will be a simultaneous URBA writing camp in Päivölä on 6-8 August.
Included in the camp (free-of-charge)
- Accommodation (in the rooms of 2-3 persons; incl. bedlinen)
- Food (breakfast, lunch, coffee, dinner, evening snack)
The participants are expected to organize and pay for their own trips to and from Päivölä. We recommend public transportation or carpooling with other participants.
Criteria
- The applicant must be a registrated PhD student at Tampere University.
- The dissertation topic must somehow be related to urban sustainability and the themes and goals of TURNS.
- If we receive more than 10 eligible applications, places will be drawn among these applicants.
Application
We will inform the applicants about whether they have received a place on the camp by 31 May 2024.
