The ULTRASOUND group was founded at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (Wits), in 2018. It has been based at Tampere University (TUNI) since 2020, with some members remaining at Wits.
The primary goals of the group are the manipulation of microscopic materials with ultrasound. These include blood cells, tattoo ink, antibubbles, and ultrasound contrast agent microbubbles. The research outcomes typically have diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
