In April 2024, the ULTRASOUND group was visited by IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Award winner Pr Dr Ayache Bouakaz from the University of Tours.

 

In February 2024, the ULTRASOUND group visited the Transfers, Interfaces and Processes (TIPs) laboratory of the Université libre de Bruxelles for discussions on bubbles and antibubbles.

 

On 1 February 2024, Nicole Anderton presented her dissertation for public discussion. The custos was Prof. Michiel Postema, and the opponent was Prof. Paul Campbell.

 

In January 2024, the ULTRASOUND group visited the University of Navarra for ultrasonic experiments. 

 

In December 2023, the ULTRASOUND group visited TU Graz for preliminary work on astrocytes.

 

In December 2023, the ULTRASOUND group visited ISOLDE at CERN.

 

From 30 November to 1 December 2023, the ULTRASOUND group presented some of their progress during the year at the MET Faculty Research Day.

 

Following USE2023, the ULTRASOUND group returned to Hokkaido University for further experiments at the high-speed imaging facility.

 

In November 2023, the ULTRASOUND group attended the Symposium on UltraSonic Electronics 2023 (USE2023) in Toyama, Japan. They shared three pieces of their latest work.

 

“The concept of using Janus particles for ultrasound-guided drug delivery” was presented during the 2023 Westlake International Forum on Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (2023 WIFUMB), October 2023, Hangzhou, China.

 

In October 2023, the ULTRASOUND group hosted Prof. Anu Hopia from the University of Turku for further discussions around acoustic cheese and other tasty topics.

 

In September 2023, the ULTRASOUND group had the opportunity to showcase five pieces of their latest work at the 57th DGBMT Annual Conference on Biomedical Engineering, held in Duisburg, Germany.

 

The ULTRASOUND group visited South Africa in September 2023 to catch up with their colleagues at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and participate in the celebration of member Craig Carlson’s marriage to Caitlin Carlson (née Sanders).

 

In July 2023, the ULTRASOUND group was represented at the Emmy Noether meeting of the German Research Foundation.

 

In June 2023, the ULTRASOUND group hosted Prof. Jeffrey Anker from Clemson University for experiments involving ultrasonic nebulisation.

 

In June 2023, the ULTRASOUND group participated in the Workshop on Bionanomaterials and Nanomaterial Engineering, sharing their work on pulsating bubbles with nanoparticle shells, held in Łódź, Poland.

 

In May 2023, the ULTRASOUND group participated in the MyBrainElfs meeting at the University of Navarra, Pamplona.

 

In May 2023, the ULTRASOUND group visited the University of Central Lancashire to work on transdermal drug delivery.

 

In April 2023, the ULTRASOUND group visited Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan to present work on wood pulp sonoporation.

 

In March 2023, the ULTRASOUND group visited Hokkaido University to work on high-speed photography of new particles.

 

“Imaging of air entrapments inside tablets” was presented during the 2022 Westlake International Forum on Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (2022 WIFUMB) in conjunction with the International Contrast Ultrasound Society (ICUS), Dec 2022, Hangzhou, China.

 

In November 2022, the ULTRASOUND group presented some of their progress during the year at the MET Faculty Research Day.

 

In September 2022, the ULTRASOUND group had the opportunity to showcase seven pieces of their latest work at the Joint Annual Conference of the Austrian, German and Swiss Societies for Biomedical Engineering, held in Innsbruck, Austria.

 

In June and December 2022, the ULTRASOUND group visited the University of Central Lancashire to work on the damping of antibubbles.

 

In October 2021, the ULTRASOUND group visited laboratory facilities in Seinäjoki to lay the foundations on acoustic cheese research with Prof. Anu Hopia.

 

“The boy with the dragon tattoo: quite a different trilogy” was presented during the 2021 Westlake International Forum on Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (2021 WIFUMB), May 2021, Hangzhou, China.

 

“Tattoo ink sonication” was presented as an invited talk during the 2020 Integration and Interdisciplinarity in Academia webinar.
