Gender-Sensitive Literature Education in Early Childhood Education and Care and Basic Education
Aim of the project is to produce a handbook for practitioners by developing new methods to use children’s books in a gender-sensitive way in ECEC and basic education. Data consist of different kind of Finnish children’s literature: old and new fairy tales, picture books, novels, poetry, nonfiction books, young adult fiction and plays. The aim is to promote equity and gender equality in ECEC and basic education, as well as to increase learners’ linguistic competence and support them to recognize and appreciate the aesthetic nature of literary genre.
