Anna Medvedeva started a 3-year project “Languages in Academia: Negotiating Value, Power and Practices”, funded by the Academy of Finland. This study is going to analyze perspectives on language in higher education, taking into account the impact of the national and international impulses. Another aspect of the inquiry is to explore current practices and their context, which are often latent in the studies of internationalization. This research is not taking a normative standpoint on how language issues ought to be resolved in the modern academia. However, it develops a critical perspective on the current situation, looking at the existing policies and practices with an aim to illuminate problematic ideological and practical aspects.
