The breakthrough of digital health: Communication as the catalyst of the transformation of care

Catalan Journal of Communication and Cultural Studies has just published its latest special issue, focused on digital health and communication. The issue collects rich contributions on topics as diverse as the role of e-mail consultations in connection with interpersonal communication between patients and providers and the influence of m-Health apps in terms of health management. Other contributions also discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has been a transforming moment for the digitization of healthcare, both in terms of positive expectations and serious doubts.

Altogether, the special issue provides a forum to discuss the different roles of communication in the context of the transition towards digital health. Edited by Anna Sendra and Sinikka Torkkola from the NEGATE project and Eliza Govender from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the different contributions can be accessed here: https://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/intellect/cjcs/2021/00000013/00000002
