Post-doctoral researcher Jenni Kallio has been granted funding for the research project ‘The Hunger Games – Young Adults’ Negotiations on Hunger as Questions of Lived Citizenship’. The project is funded by Ella ja Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation.
The research Hunger games focuses on everyday negotiations of survival, societal status and citizenship for the perspective of Finnish young people facing hunger. The research combines youth research and citizenship discussions in a novel way, as it approaches hunger as a question related to the arrangements of society, and to the value and status of young people as members of society. In the research it is emphasized how these experiences are constructed in young people’s everyday lives and mundane social activities, and how young people facing hunger can negotiate these questions in society.
