Project launch in December 2023

The Erasmus+ project “Teaching case studies online: How to design and teach case studies in vocational schools” (short: TeC@ses) by the Universities of Antwerp, Cologne (coordinating body), Tampere and the University of Economics and Business in Prague aims to strengthen vocational educators for the digital age.

The project focuses on the development of an innovative e-learning tool, the TeC@ses tool, specially designed for case study design and teaching. This tool will work on two levels: 1) teachers will be able to use it to train themselves on how to design and digitally enhance case studies for effective teaching. 2) Secondly, it is an online-based training programme for vocational school teachers.

The TeC@ses tool integrates interactive learning support in the form of a learning path through its modules. Within the tool, practical examples and pedagogical steps for teaching are created and development elements as well as interactive exercises are built in. These resources are designed to equip teachers with the skills to create high-quality, practical case studies.

The TeC@ses tool, that will be available in Czech, Dutch, English, Finnish and German, is not only a means for teachers to improve their skills using new media channels, but also serves as a platform for developing the digital skills needed for media-enhanced and innovative teaching. First transnational project meeting in Prague

What is the digitisation of case studies? What do teachers need to know in order to use case studies in the classroom? How should our TeC@ses-tool be structured?

From the 14th to the 16th of February 2024, we addressed these questions at the first in-person meeting in Prague. At this meeting, the project team expand their trust-based working atmosphere and defined milestones as well as the upcoming work packages. On this basis, the detailed tool concept will be developed. Within the duration of the project (01.12.2023–30.11.2026), the project team will meet four times in person. The next transnational project meeting will be in November 2024 in Antwerp.

The newsletter will be sent every four months. If you would like to speed up the time until the next newsletter, you are welcome to discover the new homepage for the TeC@ses project with lots of up-to-date and helpful information.

Please feel free to send us your thoughts and feedback as well as a note if you no longer wish to receive the newsletter.
