Sound, technologies and interaction

This module covers the core knowledge of sound technology and its interaction aspects. The courses offered by TAMK focuses on audio technology, while the courses offered by Tampere University focus on how audio and speech can be used in interactive applicarions and services.

IM00DR72-3001 Live Event Technology Basics (TAMK) (5op):

Basics of live sound systems and acoustics, lighting systems and rigging. Essential live mixing and lighting techniques. Collaboration in an international student team. Sustainable development.

IM00DR70-3001 Audio Technology Basics (TAMK) (5op):

The basics of sound behaviour, most common digital sound formats. Hardware and software used in digital sound editing and IT-learning environment. Recording and storing acoustic signals by utilising computers.Collaboration in an international student team. Sustainable development.

HTIS50 Advanced course in human-technology interaction (10op):

Speech-based human-technology interaction. Speech and audio applications. Fundamentals of speech and audio technology. Conversational interfaces. Non-speech audio (e.g., auditory icons, earcons, music, auralization, soundscapes).

After the course the student knows the characteristics of auditory and spoken interaction and the technologies, methods and tools needed to design, develop and evaluate auditory and spoken applications and services.

Teaching: Periods I-II/2019

The course contains meetings and a project work.
