The teaching, research and development project known as School as a Service (SaaS) has received a new international recognition at the Human City Design Award 2019 hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and organised by the Seoul Design Foundation.
The theme of the Human City Design Award 2019 is ‘Design for Sustainable City towards a harmonious relationship between human and the environment’, recognising ‘projects that contribute to a more harmonious and sustainable relationship between people and people, people and society, people and the environment and people and nature’.
Fernando Nieto has participated in the development of the project idea in the past years within Group X, a focus group at Aalto University Department of Architecture led in this project by Professors Antti Ahlava and Jarmo Suominen. Group X is an internationally reputed research group concentrating especially on the cross-disciplinary interaction of architecture with other fields and the research of the limits of architecture, with expertise in architectural design, urban design and service design in architecture.
