  • In 2024 August we hosted a Summer Symposium at Hatanpää Manor in Tampere. In the symposium we had two guest speakers, Eero Haapala (Docent in Paediatric Exercise Physiology) and Elina Pekkarinen (Ombudsman for Children). Besides the speeches, the day featured social activities and opportunities to spend time together.
  • In 2024, we organized the second advanced studies seminar course for medical students.  During the course, students receive guidance and training in conducting research and working on their advanced projects, with the goal of encouraging them to pursue doctoral studies if they wish. Research centers’ PIs teach the course, and our postdoctoral or doctoral researchers give invited lectures on specific topics. Many students from previous courses have continued their research and are now working towards their doctoral dissertations.

  • In 2024, TamCAM’s PIs and researchers raised several themes and engaged in public discussion on topics such as: increasing rates of childhood obesity and its’ associated complications and their implications for the society and individuals, importance of pediatric drug research, aggressive behavior in children and adolescents, gender dysphoria in minors and adolescent mental health crisis.
  • The center’s leading investigators and other researchers were interviewed on multiple occasions by various Finnish media outlets, for example: Ilta-Sanomat 4/24, Helsingin-Sanomat 5/24, Aamulehti 6/24, Helsingin-Sanomat 7/24, Aamulehti 2/24, Ilta-Sanomat 10/24, Aamulehti 8/24 and Helsingin-Sanomat 12/2024.
