A pediatric specialist, professor of pediatric oncology and hematology, and one of TamCAM’s PI’s, Olli Lohi, has been named the Cancer Doctor of the Year 2024 by the Cancer Foundation Finland!

Lohi treats children with cancer and conducts research on the mechanisms behind childhood acute leukemia. His goal is that no child should lose their life to cancer.

Lohi is especially praised for his humanity and empathy. He is described with words such as:

  • He cares for his patients holistically, addressing both their mental and physical needs.
  • He talks about difficult topics in an understandable way and patiently explains things.
  • A top-notch professional whose titles keep growing, yet his feet remain firmly on the ground and his heart in his work.

“It’s a privilege to do work where I can serve people and see its impact so concretely,” Lohi himself says.

Warm congratulations to Olli!
